Central Switzerland is considered one of the most scenic areas in the country with spectacular mountains covered in snow and stunning lakes. For skiiers there is lots on offer with 494 kilometers of slopes and 187 ski lifts. The best known resorts are set amidst beautiful landscapes catering for all levels of experience: Andermatt: has a good level of snow and slopes of between 2000m and 3000m. Gemsstock is for experts only with primarily black runs and off-piste routes. Sörenberg: this ski resort is in the Canton of Lucerne and there are heights of 1,100 – 2,350m in the winter sports area. Klewenalp-Stockhütte: an area in the Canton of Nidwalden with 40km of slopes and 14 lifts. Elevations are between 1,200 and 2,001m. Engleberg Titlis: this resort has 66km of slopes with 19 lifts and is the largest winter sports resort in Central Switzerland with lifts up to Trübsee and Stand and many levels of difficulty to enjoy including one of the longest slopes in the Alps. Melchsee-Frutt: Lots of opportunities for skiing and snowboarding with 36km of slopes and elevations of 1,080m to 2,255m. Hoch-Ybrig: area in the Canton of Schwyz with two points of access from the village of Oberiberg.
