Pettneu am Arlberg is situated in the Landbeck district of the Austrian Tyrol and the winter sports lifts directly from the village to the Lavenar Hotel. The resort is a small one with only 4 ski lifts but is very picturesque and has an impressive 792m of vertical descent but is, on the whole, more suitable for intermediate and novice skiiers and snowboarders. There are 12km of ski slopes that are classified into 4km of blue routes, 5km of red routes and 3km of black runs and the winter sports area is at elevations of 1228m - 1500m with the season running from mid December until late April. There is good snow in most of the ski areas but snow making equipment is used on about a quarter of the pistes to ensure visitors get the best from their holiday, and the area also has a 3.5km natural toboggan run and a terrain park for snowboarders. For cross-country skiiers there are 22km of trails at Pettneu and it is also possible to purchase a Ski Alberg pass which gives access to the other nearby resorts of St. Christoph, St. Anton, Stuben am Alberg, Lech, Warth, Zürs, Sonnenkopf/Klösterle and Schröcken.
